Westburn

Westburn is a city located in the southwest portion of the Yeomanry League, near the convergence of the Crystalmists, Hellfurnaces, and Salhaut Mountains. It serves as the governmental “Seat” of one of the nation’s five high districts within the democratic republic of the Yeomanry.

The city has a population of approximately 2,500 inhabitants, composed mainly of humans with Suel, Oeridian, and Flan ancestry, as well as notable populations of halflings, dwarves, gnomes, and elves. A smaller number of half-elves and half-orcs also reside in Westburn. The primary languages spoken are Common, Keolandish, Halfling, and Elvish.

Westburn is a significant religious center, hosting congregations dedicated to a diverse pantheon of deities, including Heironeous, Phaulkon, Trithereon, Zilchus, Allitur, Norebo, Kord, Fharlanghn, Delleb, Joramy, Fortubo, and the halfling and dwarven pantheons.

Administratively, Westburn is one of the five high districts of the Yeomanry League. The nation’s government is a democratic republic. The executive branch is led by a Grosspokesman, while the legislative branch consists of the Council of Common Grosspokesmen, which convenes in the capital of Loftwick.

A notable recent event in the vicinity of Westburn is the rediscovery, about a dozen years ago, of a cavernous tunnel known as the Passage of Slerotin. This tunnel pierces the mountains and extends to the Sea of Dust, leading to a surge in traders and adventurers in the region. Consequently, a new frontier town named Dark Gate has sprung up approximately twelve miles southwest of Westburn to cater to this traffic. This development has brought increased, and sometimes unwanted, attention to the Yeomanry from various factions across Oerth.

Westburn was mostly destroyed during the Tiamat Wars of 609 CY. It has rebuilt and reestablished their government.
